I'm fortunate enough to have access to a river at the bottom of my plot, which is the main reason for snapping the plot up when I could.

There's a bit of a contentious issue however as the plot has been known to flood on occasion and the plot holders to the left side of my plot (looking at the river) have elected to bank up or build walls to keep the water out and to stop people (especially those wanting access to the allotments to do damage) from gaining access to the allotment.

I however, want the access to the river and, in time, intend to build a mooring and little jetty with the intention of mooring a boat.

The riverbank is in need of some attention to make it user friendly. There's a few awkward branches from trees and bramble thickets that need taming but once that's tidied up it should look really good.

I'm in the process of gathering wood together for my jetty and I already have quite a bit to make a start though I may wait until finances suggest I may be able to acquire a boat.

Access to the river offers the opportunity to fish and though I was once a fisherman I no longer am.

I don't want to get into the politics of fishing arguments but I can just enjoy the river as it is and enjoy watching the fishermen on the other side landing their tiddlers. I'm told that Bream and Chub are regularly caught.

The River - The Medway in Kent. It's quite wide at the point where it runs through the allotment. There's pleasure craft and houseboats on the river and fishermen during season.
